Services We Provide
Fire Alarms
Our skilled and qualified engineers cover all aspects of fire alarm installation, servicing, and maintenance in accordance with current British Standards BS5839. This involves creating a full asset list of each site and detailed reporting – complete with images of devices which passed or failed – which are plotted onto plans provided by the client.
Under Articles 13 and 17 of the Fire Safety Order, the person responsible for a building must ensurethat an adequate fire alarm system has been installed, maintained, and is in full working order. Whether you require a fire alarm installation or a maintenance contract, Protek Secure Fire is on hand to ensure you are operating fully within the law and kept safe from unnecessary risk.
All fire alarm projects start with a Fire Risk Assessment involving a comprehensive evaluation of all sites and buildings. Next, we design, install, or repair equipment to ensure you comply with Fire Regulations. Once this is complete, we develop an ongoing maintenance plan to suit the system and the environment in which it is installed. Our ‘open protocol’ fire systems enable you to choose who maintains your system, unlike ‘close protocol’ systems, which lead to increased costs and maintenance callouts.

Fire Risk Assessments
A Fire Risk Assessment is a legal obligation. If you are a person responsible for a building—such as an employer, owner, or occupier of premises that is not a 'single private dwelling’ – you must ensure that a suitably competent person conducts a Fire Risk Assessment for the premises.
Additionally, the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires that you appoint a competent person to assist in implementing preventative and protective measures. As of 1 October 2023, you must also document all fire safety arrangements and assessment findings and take appropriate action. That’s where our team comes in – backed by more than 30 years of experience, we provide comprehensive fire risk assessments, complete with detailed reporting and recommendations.
Our Process
Step 1: Preparation
Our operations team will schedule a date for your fire risk assessment and send you a checklist to help you prepare. The checklist outlines what to expect during the assessment, what the assessor will be looking for, and common issues found in fire risk assessments.
Step 2: Audit
Once your fire risk assessment is completed, it is audited by our Compliance Department before
being released through our cloud-based reporting software. This provides full visibility and transparency regarding your fire safety compliance—saving you time and resources while minimizing human error. You can set access levels for key personnel, giving you control over who accesses each site and who can address action points. Read-only access can be provided for external audits.
Step 3: Review
Your fire risk assessment is a living document. After release, our compliance team is available to offer expert guidance, utilizing their industry knowledge and a practical approach to ensure you achieve compliance efficiently. Regular reviews of your fire risk assessment are necessary, usually once a year, but the frequency should be based on assessed risk. Other events may also trigger a review.

Fire Extinguishers
If a fire starts right now, would you have the correct fire extinguisher to put it out safely? Do you have a schedule for fire extinguisher servicing? If you tried to escape the building, are you sure that your extinguishers are positioned on the route to safety?
In our extensive experience, fire extinguisher servicing is essential for your fire safety strategy. Fire extinguishers are a legal requirement in most workplaces, and they have proven invaluable in preventing small fires from taking hold. Offering a full range of extinguishers of all types and sizes, we complete all installations and servicing to the highest possible standard, with quality customer service and competitive prices.
Services We Provide
Fire Doors
Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, effective fire doors are a legal requirement for the majority of non-domestic premises. All hardware, including doors, frames, hinges, closers, handles, and locks, must be installed correctly to effectively prevent the spread of fire. Furthermore, any remedial works must be completed using BMTrada-approved materials.
Making sure a fire door is suitable may be daunting for those unfamiliar with current standards, especially in older buildings where previously compliant fire doors may now be out of date or damaged. For your peace of mind, we provide complete fire door inspection services, including:
- A Visit from Our Qualified, BMTrada-Certified Inspectors
- Comprehensive Inspection of All Fire Doors, Frames and Associated Hardware
- Identification of Fire Doors Which Are Compliant and Non-Compliant
- A Full Report Detailing Findings and Any Further Action Required
Services We Provide
Passive Fire Stopping
Built into the fabric of buildings, passive fire-stopping measures are a vital part of your fire strategy, not only safeguarding lives but also significantly reducing the financial impact of fire on buildings and their contents. Adequate passive fire stopping within buildings is a statutory requirement of ‘Approved Document’ B in Building Regulations (2010), and also the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, which states:
“… any person who has some level of control in premises (responsible person) must take reasonable steps to reduce the risk from fire and make sure people can safely escape if there is a fire.”
Working closely with customers in facilities management and end-user markets, Protek Secure Fire ensures compliance through the survey, installation, and rectification of passive fire systems. Our team of BMTrada Q-Mark-accredited specialists carry out installations and remedial works to ensure the safety of people and property through building compliance.
Services We Provide
Fire Damper Testing
It is commonly accepted good practice to program annual fire damper testing as part of your building’s planned preventative maintenance (PPM). What’s more, BS9999:2017 Annex W.1 provides clear guidance that all fire dampers should be tested at regular intervals not exceeding 2 years, and that spring-operated fire dampers should be tested every 12 months and at greater frequencies if in a dust-laden environment.
With fire damper testing from Protek Secure Fire, we ensure the compliance and effectiveness of both mechanical and automated fire and smoke dampers to BS9999 standards. All of our national team members undergo CPD-certified competency training to ensure we deliver the best possible services. We also deliver full photographic reports and certification of the testing through our digital reporting software and replace any damaged dampers for clients nationwide.
